NFL Previews: Arizona Cardinals

Offense:

Well it kind of all lies on how Kevin Kolb will do. They gave up a kings ransom to get him (Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2nd pick), so the Cardinals must really believe in his talents. In Philly we saw a bit of it from time to time when he replaced Donovan McNabb and filled in for Michael Vick, but we have never seen a consistency out there to go all in with this guy. Also the jury is still out on Beanie Wells who hasn't done much to prove he's an every down back. Ryan Williams will also give some relief as the took him out of Virgina Tech last year. The Cardinals had an awful offensive line so that could be part of the issue, but that better change this year as they must protect their franchise QB. Larry Fitzgerald is all alone out there as Anquan Boldin was sent packing last year and Steve Breaston is on his way to Kansas City. Todd Heap was a great addition as well, if he remains healthy.

Defense:

The Cardinals defense last year was pretty bad, they had some huge gaping holes in it, but they did a nice job filling them. They obviously had the best player in the draft fall to them in their lap in Patrick Peterson, but he alone can't make up for some of the free agency departures. They were 8th in turnovers last year, so that's something to stay opportunistic about.

Overall:

Again, things are wide open in the NFC West. It will take more than one short offseason to get Kevin Kolb fully ready and prepared to take this team to a dominant team. I'm scared with the lack of WR depth and they need to start pounding the ground more as they were last in the NFL with attempts in 2010. This team is a work in progress.
