Indians @ Red Sox Preview

Ellsbury has been the hero the last two nights, but all eyes will be on Bedard tonight, as the Red Sox sit back and wonder if he can be the missing #3 pitcher the Red Sox have been looking for since Buchholz went down. I cautioned the other day not to read into this start too much as it's only his 2nd sine coming off the DL, but it will still be a very interesting game.

Bedard is only 4-7 on the season, but he was playing for Seattle so that is forgivable. Plus, on look at his 3.45 ERA and you would know that record means nothing. Bedard did get lit up in his first game off the DL allowing five runs and four walks in 1 1/3 innings against the Rays. Bedard was 4-2 with a 1.77 ERA in his previous 11 starts though.

Trying to black Bedard's first win as a Red Sox is our old friend Justin Masterson, who is way better as a starter then I ever thought he would be. I also thought he would be a great reliever, but having him be a starter was a mistake. I was wrong as he is 8-7 on the season with a 2.56 ERA. On top of that he has crushed the Sox in his career going 2-0 with a 1.25 ERA in three starts against his former team. Masterson is 0-1 in his last three overall despite allowing three earned runs over 22 2/3 innings, receiving four total runs of support. I think that's what will cost him the win tonight as well.

Boston wins 5-4
Player of the Game: Gonzalez
Game starts at 7:10pm
